Requirements:
Purpose: To learn how to fish and apply the proper safety rules.
1. Identify five native fish to your region.
2. Rig a pole with proper line and hook, bobber and sinker (if you need one) and use it for fishing
or
If possible, learn the proper use of a rod and reel.
4. Describe safety rules for fishing and boating.
5. Go on a supervised fishing outing.
6. Carry out a fish conservation project, such as:
a. Remove litter (cans, tires, plastic, etc) from a stream
b. Placing stones or logs to create small pools for fish in a very shallow and small stream
c. Planting shrubs and/or grass on eroding stream banks to keep dirt from washing into water.
d. Making a poster on improving fish habitat and show it in the library, school bulletin board or store window.
